If you are a film maker that hasn't been hiding under a rock, then you know who Robert Rodriguez is. The film maker who helmed Sin City, got his start with the independent low budget film El Mariachi. El Mariachi was a hit and launched his career. Here is a video where the director gives a few basic tips on how to create your own film using some of his proven methods. It's only eight minute long, but if you want to start making films, you can take the time to watch it. Trust me, I have, and it's completely worth it. Now I have to note that some of it may seem out of date, but don't worry; you'll be able to adapt the methods for your own use.
